Just came home from a recent shoot in Belgium and noticed that we can now “pre-order” the new Thunderbolt Docking Stations from Matrox for the MacBook Pro and Air.
This product may offer a lot of possibilities since much of our video editing takes place in the field, often in compact and remote locations. At ExpedtionWorkshops we are always on the lookout for finding the best products to produce high quality videos, and keep pricing affordable. The new MacBook Airs are great to travel with, especially when you only need to ingest and create Final Cut Archives, and now with this new docking station, it seems like we might be able to hook up some extra hard-drives and a larger monitor.
Looking forward to try one out and letting you know what we think. We have to wonder why Apple has not come out with their own version, since having only one Thunderbolt port on these computers is not enough for serious video editing, especially if you want to edit on a larger monitor.
