Testing the Leica M Monochrom Digital Camera in the Arctic

Republishing an article from this month’s Leica Magazine (LFI)

During our Arctic adventures in 2012, Cotton tested the new Leica monochrome camera, capturing some incredible images that at the same time showed what a great job Leica have done in designing this camera, despite its limited market to lovers of B&W imagery. I (David) assisted in also capturing identical images on their color version of the same camera and we then converted them to black and white in Aperture for comparison. There was no question that the Monchrom outperformed its color counterpart, so hats off to Leica for producing an amazing product!

These images were taken aboard the National Geographic Explorer during our trip to Greenland with Lindblad. You can join us or other members of the Lindblad team on various sailings in 2013 by going to – www.expeditions.com
